ALBUM: The Country Hero

This was my first full-length album when I played and recorded as Justin Fallen (different spelling of my last name!). I recorded it with my friends and drummer Matt Simon, bass player Phil Ajjarapu, and about thirty different singers and musicians in a studio on East 12th. (We recorded the choir at the Church of the Higher Dimension down the street). I was really lucky to get started in Austin because I got to surround myself with musicians that were all better than me. It challenged me to grow a lot as a performer, and stretched my chops in different directions. Getting the sounds I heard while playing music in Texas into a mythic dream-narrative concept album felt like an opus. It was my most ambitious project to date, and I still feel proud of the work--especially the takes we got of the talent on the project. I fell in love with producing while working on this album.
